What a difference a year makes! This time last year, the dust was just settling on the newly completed taproom and beergarden. Construction inside the brewery was still underway and, little did we know, we were facing a year of incredibly rapid growth. Before our expansion, the brewery had a production capacity of just 1,000 barrels per year. Now our facility is capable of producing over 12,000 barrels annually! And you can’t grow production if you don’t grow staff as well. The Rentsch Brewery family grew from 6 to 16 this past year. It sure is easy to find help when employee benefits include free beer!
Now the Brewery is just over 2 years old, and, naturally, we continue to encounter new experiences. Overall we’ve worked hard, learned a lot, and had a really fun year. Here is a look at what 2017 brought for Rentsch Brewery.
New Distributor Partners
This year we partnered with new distributors and Rentsch Beer can now be found along the IH-35 corridor from Temple all the way down to New Braunfels. Jack Hilliard Distributors has been a champion for Rentsch beer in Bell County introducing us to both Temple and Killeen while helping us grow our presence in Salado. Tri City Distibutors has taken us to Comal, Gonzales, and Guadalupe Counties. We’re steadily growing in all of our markets and are continuing to develop relationships across the state. This is just the start. We can’t wait to see where we’ll be by the end of 2018!
Cans Hit the Shelves
2017 gave Rentsch fans what they had been asking for: our first cans hit the shelves! Now you can enjoy a cold Rentsch brew in the comfort of your home, at a tailgate, sitting in the river… you get the drift. Our core brands (Blonde, Hefeweizen, Weizenbock, and IPA) can now be found in HEB’s, SPECs, Twin Liquors and Total Wine and More’s across all of our service areas. Canning some of our seasonals and specialty brews is at the top of our to-do list, so keep an eye out for your favorites in the future!
2017 was extra special as the Rentschlers welcomed their first grandchild and nephew, Everett, to the family. He was born on April 12th in Atlanta, Georgia. Though Everett is living in Georgia, he has spent a fair amount of time at the brewery in Georgetown. Andrew has already been Who knows, maybe there’s a future brewer in the family!
Hosted our First Bike Ride
This year we hosted the annual #Don’tFeartheFinger charity bike ride. Don’t Fear the Finger is a nonprofit focused on raising awareness of the importance of prostate health. It was a lot of fun for us and it’s prepared us to take on hosting the Red Poppy Ride in April! We’re happy to be a business that supports community traditions and encourages a healthy lifestyle.
Oktoberfest Celebration in the Beergarden
We held our Annual Oktoberfest party this past year in the Rentsch Brewery Taproom and Beergarden. With 4 bands, 3 food trucks, a few special releases and games, there was fun had by all. We were thrilled to see record crowds and meet new faces who had never heard of Rentsch before. If you didn’t get a chance to participate this year, don’t worry. It has been so much fun for us and our patrons that it will continue to be annual event! We’re hoping to host more events this year, so sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date on upcoming events in the taproom!
All of us here at Rentsch Brewery cannot thank you enough for your unending support. It has been an amazing year. We know we couldn’t enjoy the success we’ve had without our fans. There is still a lot in store for us as we continue to grow, so we hope you’ll stay along for the ride!
With that said, we would like to wish you a very blessed and prosperous 2018!
Thank you and Happy Brew Year!
